Rubric for Science Literacy Presentation

Science Literacy Presentation

Outline
  1. Find an article regarding a Science investigation or new, relevant Science concept.
  2. Read the article for understanding - you will need to do some research to help you fully understand
  3. Create a Presentation to outline your article be sure to include in your presentation your background research, observations made, details of the experiment(s) or investigation(s) performed (controls variables, data collection methods, analysis, etc.)  Outline why your article is or is not trustworthy, where bias exists and how you know.  make sure to connect your article to “real life applications” tell us why it is important to know this.

Your grade will be generated using the following Criteria

clear, full understanding of concepts and was able to explain fully, it was evident that further research had been conducted was able to relate to the course
clear, full understanding of concepts,was able to relate to the course, some evidence of further research but it was limited.
clear, mostly understood the concepts, some difficulties explaining, no evidence of further research
Description of Bias detected
was able to determine the source of article and then determine source of bias
was able to determine source of bias somewhat by reading article
was able to determine that there was bias - but not sure towards what
Trustworthiness
was able to point out three solid reasons to trust or not trust
was able to point out two solid reasons to trust or not trust
was able to point out one solid reasons to trust or not trust
Connections and meaningfulness
was able to make connections to real world applications and own life experiences, was able to give meaning to the article and its importance
was able to make some connections to background experience OR was able to point out meaningfulness and importance
was able to point out how it could be applied but not to own experience or background, not able to find meaningfulness
